So I promised I would give a run down of the Boston Marathon and show some pictures, so I’m sorry I’m talking about it again, but I hope it inspires you to sign up for a race of your own! There are tons of races and tons of different lengths of races during the spring, summer and fall. It doesn’t have to be a long distance race! Sign up for a 5k or even a 1 mile walk! No matter the race, it’s just fun to get involved, and being signed up keeps you motivated.
There were tons of people at the Boston marathon, and even more security. We got there pretty early and the spots by the finish line were already full. They wouldn’t let anymore people stand there because of increased security. We found another spot that was a little over a mile from the finish line. There were still tons of people there, but we managed to make our way to the front of the fence. We were about a mile after a pretty tough hill, so we saw many runners cramping up and struggling a little bit. Every single one kept going, even though you could tell some of them were having a very hard time. It was amazing to hear and see how many of the spectators were cheering. I don’t think that the guy next to us ever stopped cheering! It was awesome to see how much support there was. For most of the race, people are lining the course and cheering for the runners.
There was heavy security during the race, which was great. There were helicopters circling, security check points where they would check your bags, security guards standing all over the course, and there were even guys on top of buildings with guns! Crazy! One of the police officers told us, “nothin is going to happen on my turf!” They did a great job, and everyone there was grateful that they were there.
After the race we found my dad and uncle and went to a park and let them rest and the kiddos play for a bit. They had a blast running and being involved. It was such an amazing event that I hope to experience again one day!
Here are some pictures of the race and a couple from the rest of our trip!
Have an awesome day!!!
